365 days, 12 months, 4 seasons, 1 rotation around the sun. In retrospect, a lot can happen in a year. We get older, celebrate anniversaries and holidays. We endeavor to remember the good-ol' times, while trying to capture the embodiment of days gone by, struggling against the constant change that time has wrought.
One year ago my life had changed significantly. I found myself taking pause to reflect on my priorities and how my choices had led me to that point. In the quiet repose I found myself in, my inner voice demanded to be heard. I took up the pen (or the laptop as it were), and put words to paper. Devoting every waking spare moment I had to cultivation and realization of a dream that had long since slumbered in the back ground.
Two months, and 86000 words later, I joined the 3% club. Of all those who sit down to write a novel, only 3% will finish. Those are daunting odds and a sobering fact, but one that deserves recognition; an author friend of mine reminded me of that only this morning.
So with a renewed appreciation for the accomplishment, I now find myself celebrating the anniversary of its completion. With the cover art settled, I am now setting my sights on establishing a concrete publication time line.
until next time.
